Formula Alloy Shafts - Tom Thumb
Tom Thumb is the shortest shaft length in common use — shorter than extra short, sitting the flight almost flush against the barrel.
This is a specialist length. It strips away nearly all the drag a shaft contributes and pulls balance well back, which lets darts stack extremely close together. Players who throw hard and already group tightly sometimes find it's the last step in getting three darts into the same bed. For everyone else it's usually too little stability.
